This book presents an integrative approach to healing anxiety, depression, and chronic stress. It includes restorative yoga sequences designed to balance anxiety and lift depression, breath- and body-centered exercises to calm your mind and energize your body, simple ways to understand your emotional patterns, an overview of the three main obstacles to emotional well-being, five tools for building emotional balance.

Eastern Body Western Mind by Anodea Judith

This wonderful book uses the chakra system as a map upon which to chart our Western understanding of individual development. Each chapter focuses on a single chakra, starting with a description of its characteristics, then exploring its particular childhood developmental patterns, traumas and abuses, and how to heal and maintain balance.

The Heart of Yoga by T. K. V. Desikachar. This is a comprehensive book that covers every aspect of yoga from concept & meaning,  pranyama,  asana, sequencing, to yoga philosophy. There is also a chapter in the book about Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra! Great for developing a personal practice.

Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff & Amy Matthews. This book illustrates which part of your body each pose works on. The focus in this book is on the link between breath and spin!
